Art through the process of leaving a mark. This can apply to many kinds of art but is particular to printmaking. Since the beginning of man people have looked for a way to leave a lasting mark. I enjoy the physical aspects of relief printing through its carving be it lino, plywood, MDF or other material. But all the different processes that are available to a printmaker gives the opportunity to create something new.

Love, Strength: Always in Season (2025) (Etching, Screenprint, Relief)
This piece was a variation on a print exchange project with Melanie Yazzie. Her theme for the print exchange was Women-Wonder-Wish. Starting with the basic shape of reproduction I created the central etching through various techniques including acid and electro etching for both line and aquatint. This was followed with multiple layers of color through screen printing laying the bases for the different aspects or stages of a womans life Blue (Infancy), Green (Youth), Red (Maturity/Motherhood), Purple (Matriarch/Elder). Finally, I created the relief block using different images I felt fit with each aspect. This started with hairstyles as they are often the most visual part of where a woman is in her life other than age. I also included elements indicating the difference of season. If you look closely you will see small images also associated with each season. Hands connect each section indicating their support and the continued cycle.

Endulgent (Variable Edition) (2025) (CMYK Etching)
This edition started as a single CMYK Etching Print. Through manipulation of which color was applied to which plates I was able get these multiple versions. This piece is based around the deadly sins of Gluttony, Envy, Lust and Greed. By mixing these I was able to create this modern visual of our world where what people may think of as normal could also be taken as abnormal.

Unexpected Connections Through Diversity (2025) (Multiblock Relief)
By use of Geometric and organic shapes a network of connections is made where they overlap and their colors mix. This piece shows how people from different backgrounds even when not working directly together make connections in the overall visual of life.

Silent Memories (2024) (Monotype)
This piece was an attempt to remember some of my fellow soldiers that I knew in Iraq and Afghanistan that were lost. This is just a small piece exploring the idea of using my military experience to create art.

Making Eye Contact (2024) (Monotype)
This is a recreation of a visual I had made digitally. This was an early use of this technique. But like the idea of creating imagery through the use of other ideas such as puns or idioms. Beyond the fact of how people think of the idea of making eye contact is just looking at a person. I like the silly idea of thinking of the eyes themselves being characters that are making a direct connection.

Little Power (2024) (Monotype)
Idea that life comes in small packages but also contains the power to move the world. When I first became a father to a child of my own, I could not comprehend how that little person was going to affect my life from that point on. This is a small visual of how things can be but also cant be contained in a small package.

Island Mystery (2024) (Monotype)
No particular idea in mind when creating. Just let visual build as I added marks. Sort of feels like the first time I left the United States and went to St. Kitts. Though my early childhood was partially in the Florida Keys going to an island that was not part of the US left a mystery for me.

Grad of My (2024) (Monotype Self Portrait)
Using one of my photos from when I was getting close to graduating with my BFA I wanted to see if I could attempt to replicate without using visual aids. Probably gave myself a little more hair on top that I actually have.

Fluidik Dance (2024) (Monotype)
Visual Creation through shape. I would add shapes as they felt right. This figure to me feels like something you would see on old Native American artifacts which would have been used in water or fertility/food ceremonies.

Dangling Silk (2024) (Monotype)
This piece pertains to my time as a paratrooper in the army. Having the paratrooper wings in the background in a different color makes for an interesting visual. You can almost feel the wind rushing past you as you look at this and see there are others, and you are not alone though you may feel otherwise.

Holy Roller (2024) (Relief)
This is a tongue and cheek visual I came up with after seeing an enamel pin. The pin was a visual of a girl kneeling as if in prayer but in front of her was a printing brayer. So I took a more direct idea of what if god was rolling out an image. My idea was he would need no block just the roller to print directly on anything god wanted to.

Pulse of Living Memory (2024) (Etching)
I was working with a fellow student poet to create this image. We discussed a few things and came to the agreement that we would use no skulls or candles to depict the brevity of life. So, in looking for other ideas I thought about other things that depict passage of time in slow and fast ways. Through lighting hence, the pulse which lights the sky. For slower aspects of time there are the barn and car carcasses. While the bell tower can be used as an indicator of passing time. Many people think of the eyes as the windows to the soul, but they can also be a good indicator of the state of life or death something is in. Finally, the transitions of vegetation from life into desolation and the eclipsing moon all fit with seasons and shifting of states which is also indicated in a life cycle of a moth.

Reflection: Pulses of Living Memory (2024) (Etching with Folded transfer)
This is a revisiting of “Pulse of Living Memory”. As that was a look at life this is a reflection on that task. As with any scene take a reverse look at it in different ways. This visual uses a folding technique which gives a mirror image of the original impression. The second image is slightly lighter than the first due to the transfer process which is what makes me think of a reflection on water. So, since there is now two pulse of lighting is why I changed the title slightly.

Floating Through a Divided Mind (2023) (Etching with Folded transfer)
Starting with a Rorschach style ink blot I made a drawing based on what I was seeing. This was the basis for half of the image. Starting from the basic lines I built form through the use of additional lines and aquatint creating the various shades. The plate was then printed on Japanese paper. After being removed from plate the paper was carefully folded in half creating the rest of the image and interesting overlaps.

Who Writes Your Story (2023) (Relief)
Lin-Manuel Miranda which I have depicted as a Byzantine style icon with many of is awards. These relief was created as my way to visual represent this man’s great accomplishments in a style that even he may not have thought about. If you look throughout this print you will find different references not only to his many accomplishments but just a few of his many projects some well know others not so much.

Who Writes Your Story (2023) (Relief) (Chiaroscuro)
Revisit with Who Writes Your Story. In an attempt to increase visual interest in image using the process called chiaroscuro. Where you print a light version of the block you are using then flip and overprint with a fresh inking. This creates grays within the spaces that was originally white. These patterns can create interesting movement within your piece.
